Jurassic

    Jurassic Stump four ways

Some of the forests in the Pacific Northwest are like a scene out of Jurassic Park. Hard to believe Michael Crichton’s book came out over thirty years ago. Recently reread it and it still holds up, makes me wonder if the movie does as well? Nedry…

    Jurassic Stump Color Edit

    Color

To begin with On1 Photo Raw 2021 was used for the color and the editing. Tried to add a bit of dynamic symmetry, hence the crop. Black and white

Next is the black and white edit. Initially this scene made me think of converting the image to black and white. Converting to, or shooting, black and white would take away some of the possible distractions. On1 Photo Raw was once again used for this conversion.

Jurassic Stump Kodak Ektar 100 Recipe

    “Recipe”

This final version is using one of the recipes from Fuji Weekly. Using the Kodak Ektar 100 recipe on the Fujifilm X-T2’s X-Trans III sensor removes a few of the settings, for instance the Clarity +3. We didn’t let that stop us from using it though, I liked the end result.

We took quite a few shots from this day. It was good to get out into the forest and try to see what images we came away with. It was a relatively short hike of 7 miles or so. Much of the hike was spent enjoying the scenery and finding the compositions without losing the fun of simply being in the woods.
