Long Exposure – River

    River Four Ways

Wandered into the woods along side the Salmon River in Clackamas County Oregon to try some long exposure shots.

    Long Exposure Color Edit

Utilized On1 Photo Raw 2021 for the color and the editing. On1 has a lot of great presets that can get you started. For this one, I grabbed one of the Dark Forest presets – seemed fitting. Had to “heal out” a couple of bands tied around some branches by the Forest Service.

    Black and white

Once again, stuck with On1 Photo Raw for the black and white edit on the river image. Used the Black and White Modern preset B1 to start off with. Not sure why they don’t use better, more descriptive, names than B1 or BA1…but, I’m guessing a focus group said it was what people wanted. Maybe it’s just me, but I would rather see something more memorable/descriptive than just B1. But I digress… A bit of dodge/burning, and some dynamic contrast adjustments and we are on our way.

    “Recipe” Long Exposure

This final version is using one of the recipes from Fuji Weekly. Used the Vintage Kodachrome recipe on this shot, I like the way it muted the greens a bit – darkened them. In reality, the shots were pretty vibrant due to the dampness and rain.

Look forward to heading back to the Mount Hood National Forest again in the near future. Hopefully a bit of snow, but not too much, will be on the ferns and moss to make for some different captures.

    A few more long exposures…

Here are a few more shots from the day. The rain came and went throughout the hike, added a nice shine to the rocks and moss.
